Here are a few things you need to know:

  • The Board may elect to limit public comments on any item to 30 minutes. 
  • Comments are greatly appreciated, however, please note that the Board cannot enter into a formal discussion, nor can a decision be made on any item that is not already on the agenda. Items the Board wishes to consider for future discussion can be placed on an upcoming agenda.
  • Routine items are part of the Consent Calendar and are approved by a single vote of the Board. When the agenda is adopted, a member of the Board can pull an item from the Consent Calendar and move the item to the agenda for discussion.
  • Individuals who require special accommodation to participate in a board meeting, including but not limited to an American Sign Language interpreter, accessible seating, or documentation in accessible formats, should contact the Superintendent’s office 48 hours before the meeting to enable the district to make reasonable arrangements to ensure accommodation and accessibility to this meeting.
  • To ensure that non-English speakers receive the same opportunity to directly address the Board, translation of written or oral comments will be available.

    1. California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) Results

      Dr. Sherrill Knox will present information on the results for the 2024 California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS).

    2. Summit School and Rock Tree Sky Presentation

      Presentation

      Summit School is the Ojai Unified School District’s Independent Study School. In the 2023-24 school year, it has enrollment of approximately 175 students. One way that Summit School students have opportunities to receive enrichment is through the District’s partnership with Rock Tree Sky. 

      Debby West, principal of Summit School, and Jim Bailey, Director of Rock Tree Sky, will present to the Board and community information about both programs.

    1. Approval of Memorandum of Understanding Between Ojai Unified School District and Channel Islands California State University

      Action

      Ojai Unified School District and California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) are entering into a Memorandum of Understanding in order to establish a relationship between the institutions to cooperate in developing and implementing a guaranteed admission program to CSUCI.

    7. Fiscal Crisis and Management Assistance Team (FCMAT) Health Risk Analysis Update

      Information

      In September 2022, the Ojai Unified School District and the Fiscal Crisis and Management Assistance Team (FCMAT) entered into an agreement for FCMAT to conduct a review of the district’s fiscal health. FCMAT prepared an analysis using 20 factors in FCMAT’s Fiscal Health Risk Analysis and identified the district’s specific risk rating for fiscal insolvency as high. Staff conducted a self assessment in September 2024 and again in April 2024. This is a presentation showing the areas of District improvements.
