Pursuant to A.R.S. §38-431.01 and A.R.S §38-431.02 notice is hereby given to the general public that the Board of  Directors of ASU Preparatory Academy, will hold a Regular Session, on Tuesday November 14, 2023 via Zoom https://asu.zoom.us/j/84031417702 or dial into +1 602 753 0140 Meeting ID: 8403 1417 702 at 9:00 AM AZ.

Those who are unable to participate virtually are invited to ASU Preparatory Academy's District Office located at 1130 E University Dr. STE 230, Tempe, AZ 85281. Persons with a disability may request a reasonable accommodation: such as a language interpreter, by contacting ASU Prep Academy at ASUPrep@asu.edu or by calling 480-727-2435 . Copies of the agenda and supporting materials will be available 24 hours prior to the meeting online at https://asuprep.asu.edu/governance/ or you may review the agenda in person at the District Office or each school's main office. The Board reserves the right to change the order of items on the agenda, with exception of public hearings. One or more members of the Board may participate in the meeting by telephonic communications. Pursuant to A.R.S. §38-431.02(H) the Board will not discuss, consider, or decide those matters not listed on the agenda. Pursuant to A.R.S. 38-431.03 (A)(3), the Board may vote to go into Executive Session, which will not be open to the public, to consult with its attorney and obtain legal advice on any matter listed on the agenda.

Approval of Action Items

Approval of October 10th Regular Session Meeting Minutes

It is requested that the Board of Directors approve the Regular Session Meeting Minutes for October 10th, 2023.

José Cárdenas made a motion to approve the October 10th Regular Session Meeting Minutes, seconded by Julie Young.

Approval to adopt the FY 24-25 School Calendar for ASU Preparatory Academies

It is requested that the Board of Directors approve the FY 24-25 School Calendar for ASU Preparatory Immersion and Digital Academies

Kelly Murray, Executive Director of Human Capital reviewed the following changes: 1) Moving New Employee Orientation to Tuesday/Wednesday (from Monday/Tuesday) so that remote employees can travel during the workweek to Arizona instead of traveling to AZ on a Sunday. July 23-24; 2) All Kids Can Summit on October 14-15; 3) Added Juneteenth to the list of observed holidays (June 19); 4) Immersion and Digital breaks and working days are aligned on the calendar for the 2nd year. 


Discussion: José Cárdenas brought up the letter from the Ms. Kate Lyons, a parent from Polytech Elementary to discuss the items she asked be addressed. These approved 24/25 calendars will be used to create the school calendars to be distributed to the families. Kelly Murray will begin working on the 25/26 calendar, as well as clarifying verbiage on the calendar to make it easier for parents to understand. Julie Young mentioned that it was a very well written letter from the parent.

Julie Young made a motion to adopt the FY 24-25 School Calendar for ASU Preparatory Academies, seconded by José Cárdenas.
