Finance Committee Report

Financials

Brian Anderson reviewed the year end financials, starting with the Budget vs Actual Summary. Overall, we are where we anticipated with 17.86 percent remaining in total revenues and 17.39 percent in total expenditures. With revenue we are slightly behind due to enrollment and the timing of CSP & ESSER funds, but ahead due to the fundraising and exceeding ADA. The biggest unknown item effecting expenditures continues to be transportation. Our ending cash balance of $241,636 will improve when we receive the reimbursement for the bus purchase from CSP.

Enrollment in September and December and the ADA next year will be important. Putting the strategic plan initiatives in place and enrollment up a little will make us comfortable with positive cash flow every year. The first student count day this year will be October 1 vs the September 15th when it was previously.

Principals Report

Enrollment/Enroll Indy Update

Deb Leser reported that right now we have 30 students enrolled, with 3 to 4 new inquiries a week. We anticipate the inquiries to pick up in July. We currently have 18 students in summer school.

No update for Enroll Indy.

Professional Development

We will continue to do PLC on Fridays with each week being themed and specific. We have one dedicated to looking at data, one to classroom strategies, etc.

Formative Assessments

We showed growth with NWEA scores in each area, with the average being in the 70th percentile.

Goal Progress

Academic Dashboard

We had our highest count post pandemic of 41 students. There has been a shift in gender, now even split between boy vs girls where previously it was more boys. Race and ethnicity stayed consistent throughout the year. Enrollment by county is showing that Marion County is still growing. Special Ed is at 34 percent, which dropped due to the loss of senior class. Free and Reduced lunch increased significantly. Attendance in May was a better, but we still have work to do.

School Data Dashboard

Parent participation improved as we went thru the year. 100 percent of students and parents physically came in the building for transition meetings. Retention rate is 86 percent for this year, with 14 percent transitioning out. We are at 30 students for starting enrollment.

Governance Committee

Board Self Assessment Update

Colleen reminded everyone to do the board self assessment by tomorrow or Monday at the latest as OEI's deadline is June 30th.

Executive Director Self Evaluation Update

Colleen reminded that the Director Self Evalutation also needs completed by June 30th.

Legislative Update

No update.

Collaboration/Concern

The Graduation pathways change will affect us with the ASVAB no longer be counted unless the student is joining the armed services. The class of 2024 is grandfathered in with the previous graduation pathways. We are looking at peer certification, integrating more SAT prep, etc. Victoria suggested looking at locally created pathway.

Participation at Hope Fest on a board level was poor. The expectation for the board is to be more involved not just board meetings and committee meetings, but at Hope Fest, Rise and Shine, Graduation, etc.

Development Committee

Development Committee Update

Hope Fest Wrap Up

Jon Shapiro is still crunching numbers but we are currently at around $15,000k, which is less than last year but higher in sponsorship.

Development team has been discussing if we should continue with Hope Fest next year.

Grants and Giving Update

Jon believes we are going to exceed the budget for this year. As of June 19th, non-grant revenue is $376,000, which is 121 percent of budget. Donor retention rate is 42 percent with a goal of 43 percent. Grant revenue is sitting at $348,000 for the year. We have resubmitted a grant request from Department of Health, which if approved it will be applied to next fiscal year. Jon and Rachelle are meeting with Doug Huntsinger tomorrow to propose a 3 year funding ask.  Mental Health of America has a multi-year funding opportunity that we are in the middle of applying for.

We are closing the year well and beginning to work towards next year.

Marketing Committee

Marketing Committee Report

Marketing Tracker

The tracker included in the board packet shows the things that have been done since May.

We are going to tweak communications and our outreach to schools, community partners, DCS, probation, treatment providers, etc., and also look at where our time is most best spent. We are changing some marketing materials, including new billboards.

Executive Director Report

Strategic Planning Update

Rachelle reminded the board of the 3 pillars in the strategic plan (Enrollment, Academic Rigor, and Funding) which we will use to develop our goals around in the committee meetings in July.

School Updates

Facilities, Staffing

The lease was approved. The new lighting and carpet installation will begin July 12th. We are also adding new lockers, creating more of a collegiate feel with seating areas mixed in with the lockers. The back patio is also being fenced in.

We recently hired a new bus driver and are currently looking for a Recovery Coach, Science Teacher and a part-time Receptionist.

Partnership Updates

The ARS conference is next week.  No update on SYF or IPS.

Meeting adjourned at 9:15am.
